Behind the Scenes Series: Entry #3
Almost 30 years ago, my husband bought a gift for me that would plant the seed that would change my life. This "Mommy Bracelet" started my love of beading and creating jewelry. I wanted to find a way to recreate a bracelet like this, but in sterling silver. I got my resale license, did some digging and discovered the World Trade Center in Dallas.
And I never looked back.
I found suppliers, and taught myself how to bead. The Mommy bracelet was just the beginning. I designed bracelets, necklaces and earrings. I started with home parties, but I had ground rules. The host had to have at least 10 people in attendance. If she did, I was certain to make a profit. In return, I gave the host a credit of 15% of her sales. So, if i sold $1000, she got $150 in free jewelry. It was a win-win!
I soon progressed to setting up in office buildings, in teacher's lounges at school, anyone who would have me. I could have worked every day!
Then, in 2000, my husband built our website, and off we went!
We are so proud to be part of this industry and blessed to have our Auntie's Beaders!
